Volunteer Work

New York, New York

[2013]

Wendy by HWKN at PS1

Wendy is an environmentally friendly structure that was installed in the Summer of 2012. Wendy is not only a creative enviroment and structure, but a filtration system that cleans the air through use of water, large fans, and cone construction. I spent three days constructing the scaffolding support frame and constructed the filter cones made of nylon tarp.

Installation by Jason Hackenworth

at Guggenheim

Jason Hackenwerth is an installation artist based in NYC. Most of his sculptures are constructed of balloons due to their light weight and plasticity. I volunteered along with 35 others to help construct and connect three pieces that had to be twisted together and stabilized with balloons inserted into channels throughout the entire structure. The sculpture was carefully lifted by bungees to hang in the center rotunda of the Guggenheim. This had to all be constructed and completed within a thirty minute time frame. The process was a stop-and-go, trial-and-error method that took a lot of patience and communication.
